And You Can Help...
Taxpayers filing in Arizona have the opportunity to redirect a portion of their state tax dollars for scholarships to private schools. (ARS 43-1089)
Arizona's tax payers may now redirect up to $2,173 (NEW Amount!*) a year in state tax dollars to a "private school tuition organization" and receive a dollar for dollar tax credit when filing a state income tax return.
Example: If you owe $2,200 in AZ tax, take the $2,134 tax credit and your tax liability will be $66. Remember, you do not have to participate with the maximum amount, any amount will be helpful.
*The above amount includes the "Switcher Credit". This allows an individual to donate up to an additional $542 and a married couple up to an additional $1,083. This brings the total from $545 for an individual to $1,087 and from $1,090 for a married couple to $2,173.
Notice: A school cannot award, restrict or reserve scholarships solely on the basis of donor recommendation. A Taxpayer may not claim a tax credit if the taxpayer agrees to swap donations with another taxpayer to benefit either taxpayer's own dependent.
