“It’s Your Birthday!”

Phoenix, Arizona- February 17, 2011- As each year approaches people wait for that special day when it is all about them, their birthday! The Smile On Seniors volunteer program through Chabad of Arizona has started the “It’s Your Birthday” party. This personalized event makes sure seniors who otherwise would not receive it, get the special recognition they so deserve on their birthday. There is no charge and everything for the mini celebration is taken care of by the volunteers.

The “Its Your Birthday” Program is specially designed to help family members, or friends, otherwise unable to celebrate with their senior loved one.  Signing up for the program is easy with a phone call, 480-221-5455 or email, bdayvisit@sosaz.org to Birthday Visit Coordinator Donna Medoff. After completing a registration form, Donna works with the volunteer who is matched up with the senior in coordinating a mini birthday party complete with cupcake and a gift! This wonderful program is open to all seniors in the community.

“Seniors already spend a lot of time alone,” states Donna Medoff. “Spending a birthday isolated from one’s family and friends can be especially difficult.  With this program we can help make certain every senior’s birthday is a memorable one.

ALL ABOUT SMILES ON SENIORS (SOS)
Smile On Seniors is a unique volunteer program, created to enhance the lives of local seniors. Many of us have parents or family members who are seniors, living alone or in senior facilities, that would greatly benefit from an extra visit. That’s where Smile On Seniors steps in and matches local volunteers with local seniors for a weekly visit, bringing joy and a sense of caring to many.  For more information please contact Rabbi Levi or Chani Levertov at 602- 492-7670 or info@sosaz.org.
